Man Breaks Into Dearborn Home Midday, Grabs Homeowner By The Neck: Police The homeowner suffered minor injuries in the attack, according to police.DEARBORN, MI — A man is facing charges after breaking into a Dearborn home and assaulting the homeowner Saturday, according to police.
Kwame Lewis Jones, 29, of Dearborn, was charged with first degree home invasion, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault and battery.
He was placed in the Wayne County Jail with a bond set at $50,000. If he is released, he must wear a GPS tether. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 13.
Police said Jones was pacing outside a home on the 22000 block of Cleveland St at 12:15 p.m. Moments later, he went into the home and placed his hands around the homeowner's neck, according to police.
The homeowner was able to break free and run out of the house, sustaining only minor injuries, according to police.
Jones also ran from the scene, according to police.
Officers then flooded the area and arrested Jones in connection with the incident, according to police.
Investigators also determined that Jones assaulted a person while they filled up a car tire on the 3800 block of Monroe earlier that day, according to police.
"Violent acts and invasion of personal property are not tolerated in our city," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin. "I am grateful for the vigilance and assistance of the community which directly aided the Dearborn Police Department in bringing this dangerous individual to justice."
