Man charged in Sunday's fatal stabbing of woman in East Hempfield Township
A 49-year-old man has been charged with homicide in Sunday's stabbing of a Lancaster city woman in East Hempfield Township.
Benjamin Garcia Gual fatally stabbed Carmen Martinez-Silva, 50, stabbed and injured another person and tried to stab but missed a third person, according to East Hempfield police and online court docket .
Police responding to a reported stabbing call about 1:30 p.m. found Martinez-Silva's body in a yard on Dell Lane in Trailer Village Park. That's a mobile home community located behind Living Hope Community Church, 2823 Columbia Ave.
ABC27 reported , citing charging documents, that a relative of Martinez-Silva told police Gual stabbed Martinez-Silva because he was upset that she cut her hair.
The station reported that the other person stabbed was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. Gual also was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Gual is also charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. He is being held at Lancaster County Prison without bail. Online court records do not list an attorney for him.
