An hours-long standoff in southwest Colorado Springs ended Saturday evening with one man in custody, according to police.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Jason Cobb, surrendered and was taken into custody after police said he barricaded inside a home for more than three hours.

The standoff stemmed from a call regarding an alleged kidnapping around 8:30 a.m. police said.

Investigators learned a woman had walked into a Colorado Springs business and told an employee that she had been kidnapped. Then a man walked in, directed her out and left.

Officers identified a potential address for the man and woman at the 1600 block of Lorraine Street.

Officers arrived at the duplex on 1621 Lorraine Street, and made numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact the occupants before forcing their way in to check on the woman, police department said.

Officers found the woman on the second floor of the home; she escaped and told police that she had been taken against her will at gunpoint and then held against her will inside the home by the suspect.

A search warrant was obtained and police made several attempts to get the man to exit.

Then, tactical officers checked the neighbor's residence, where they found him hiding in the ceiling.

Police said the suspect had gone through the attic to access the neighbor's attached residence.

Cobb was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant and is facing new charges related to the ongoing kidnapping investigation, police said.

During the standoff, a Peak Alert announcing police activity at the 1600 block of Lorraine Street in the Ivywild neighborhood, was sent to residents in the area shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Residents were asked to stay inside and lock their doors and windows.
