Man on scooter hit, killed by vehicle in north Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is dead Wednesday after being hit and killed by a vehicle overnight in north Phoenix. The crash happened around 2 a.m. Police say the man was riding a scooter near Cave Creek Road and Cheryl Drive when he was hit by the vehicle. The man died at the scene, police said. His identity has not yet been released. Cave Creek Road is closed in both directions from 13th Street to Holiday Parkway, and authorities expect the road to be closed for an extended time. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene. Police have not ruled out speed or impairment being factors in this crash.
