ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A man was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to a 2023 shooting in an Asheville Sam's Club.

The Asheville Police Department responded to the shooting at the Sam's Club on Patton Avenue. Investigators learned that two men were arguing which led to a fight. During the fight, it was reported that Joyner pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the hip.

The shooter fled from the store after the shooting.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries to the victim and the risk to the public presented by the shooting, NC law officials argued that Joyner should receive an active prison term.

Joyner was sentenced to the maximum range term of imprisonment for an offender with no prior criminal history according to officials.

He was also ordered to pay $34,116.65 to the victim in restitution.
