Man sent forward to Sligo Circuit Court on garda assault charge

Ovis Vitolins, Innisfree Guest House, Pearse Road, Sligo is charged with assaulting Gda Joe Evans causing him harm at Sligo Garda Station, Pearse Road on July 24 2023.

He is also charged on the same date and location with making a threat to the garda intending the said garda to believe it would be carried out to kill or cause him serious harm.

Sgt Noel Gibbons of Sligo Garda Station told the court he met the accused and served him with the Book of Evidence. A signed declaration and copy were handed into the court.

Sgt Derek Butler said it was his application to return the accused for trial on the charges to the next sittings of Sligo Circuit Court on July 9 on consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Judge Sandra Murphy gave him the alibi warning. Defending solicitor Mr Tom MacSharry applied for and was granted one Junior and Senior counsel.
