BRADFORD, Vt. (WCAX) - Police say a Vermont man spread hundreds of nails and screws across a road and parking areas in Bradford on Wednesday.

Workers at a Main Street business waived down passing police after spotting a man throwing nails.

Officers caught up with James Denman, 54, of Hartford, in the driveway of the Bradford Town Office, where they say he was throwing screws and nails into the road and under a parked police cruiser.

Denman was cited on charges including reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He's due in court next month.

Police and transportation workers picked up hundreds of nails and screws in the road and parking areas from the town office to the Dollar General Store on Carson Lane. But they say it's likely some remain, especially in the parking areas on Main Street next to the northbound travel lane between Barton Street and KD Welch Service Road. Anyone who drove through or parked in those areas and has damaged tires should contact Bradford Police Sgt. Shaffer at .
