Man with stolen truck attempts to run from Colorado Springs police

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - On Wednesday night, The Colorado Springs Police Department's downtown team was near North Chestnut Street and Fillmore Avenue when they said they found a stolen truck.

Police said there was a man and a woman in the stolen truck. The male, Dante Cedillo, attempted to speed away from officers but drove into a tree stump. The stolen truck was then undrivable.

When he realized the truck was inoperable, police said he attempted to run away on foot, leaving the woman behind in the truck.

Police said they then attempted to use non-lethal force on Cedillo which did not stop him. Officers then used a taser and took him into custody.

Police said he was taken to a hospital for injuries he sustained from the nonlethal force and from hitting a retaining wall while he was running from officers.

The woman was identified and released. Police said Cedillo was arrested for motor vehicle theft.
