Manassas November General Election Voter Guide: Candidates, How To Vote Manassas voters will cast ballots for mayor, city council, school board and federal races. Here's what voters need to know.

MANASSAS, VA — Sept. 20 marks the start of early voting for the Nov. 5, 2024 general election, which features local and federal races for Manassas voters to decide. City of Manassas voters will have mayoral, city council, school board, U.S. Senate, U.S. House and president on the general election ballot.

What's on the Ballot

The City of Manassas ballot will be the same citywide. All voters will have president and vice president, member of the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives 10th district, mayor, members of city council (three seats), and members of the school board (four seats).

In the mayoral race, Democratic Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger is seeking re-election. Republican Xiao-Yin "Tang" Byrom is challenging the incumbent.

There are three City Council seats up for grabs. Ashley Hutson , Tom Osina , Mark Wolfe are the Democratic candidates who won the Democratic primary, while the Republican Party nominated Robyn Williams , Lynn Forkell Greene and Stephen Kent as candidates.

Four at-large School Board seats are up for election this year. Candidates include Christina Brooks, Diana Brown, Allie Forkell, Javanese Hailey, Zella Jones, Dayna-Marie Miles, Suzanne Seaberg and Maidy Whitesell. Brooks and Seaberg are incumbents seeking re-election, and the other six candidates would be newcomers to the School Board.

In the 10th congressional district, Rep. Jennifer Wexton. Wexton (D-Loudoun) is not seeking re-election after receiving a progressive supra-nuclear palsy diagnosis. Democrat Suhas Subramanyam and Republican Mike Clancy won their party's primaries and will face off in the general election.

According to the Virginia Public Access Project, the 10th congressional district is a competitive district up for election. The district covers Loudoun County, part of Prince William County, part of Fairfax County, Fauquier County, Manassas City, Manassas Park City, and Rappahannock County.

    Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended so that the tax exemption that is currently available to the surviving spouses of soldiers killed in action is also available to the surviving spouses of soldiers who died in the line of duty?

    Voter Registration

    The deadline for voter registration or updating your address is Oct. 15. Same-day registration will be offered from Oct. 16 through Election Day, Nov. 5. Residents may register, update their registration or check their registration status through the citizen portal at vote.elections.virginia.gov .

    Residents may also download a paper application and mail it or bring it in person to 9025 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110.

    How to Vote Early

    Voters may choose to vote early in person, request and submit a mail-in ballot or vote in person on Election Day.

    Early in-person voting starts Friday, Sept. 20 at the Manassas Voter Registration and Elections Office, 9025 Center Street, Manassas VA. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Sunday Voting will be offered on Oct. 13 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday voting will be offered Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last day to vote early in person will be Nov. 2. An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.

    To vote by mail, the easiest way to apply for a ballot is online through the Virginia Department of Elections citizens portal . Voters will need their Social Security number and a Virginia Driver's license or Virginia DMV-issued ID number. Voters may also download a paper application and return it by mail to 9025 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110 or email to Voters may also call 703-257-8230 to request an application to be mailed or pick up up an application at 9025 Center Street from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

    The deadline to request a mail-in ballot will be 5 p.m. on Oct. 25. Completed ballots must be returned to the Manassas Voter Registration and Elections Office by 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 or or postmarked by Nov. 5 and received in the office by noon on Nov. 8.

    Voters may return their completed ballot by mail or a drop box. A secure outdoor drop box is available 24/7 outside the Manassas Voter Registration and Elections Office until 7 p.m. on Nov. 5.

    How to Vote on Election Day

    Election Day voting is available at a voter's assigned polling place. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.

    Voters may confirm their polling place through the Virginia Department of Elections citizens portal . The Manassas elections office also has a list and map of its five polling places .

    After polls close at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5, preliminary election results will be tallied on the Virginia Department of Elections website . Patch will provide coverage of the Manassas local races as well as other key races in Northern Virginia.
