Mansfield, Burleson to vote on liquor stores in city limits

S.Wright34 min ago
Voters in two North Texas cities will head to the polls on Nov. 5 to decide whether to allow liquor stores within their city limits. Burleson and Mansfield permit the sale of beer and wine in grocery and convenience stores, but liquor store sales are prohibited.

If the proposals are approved, Burleson could see an estimated $254,000 in additional annual sales tax revenue, while Mansfield stands to gain about $420,000, according to economic studies. Leaders in both cities have also expressed optimism that permitting liquor stores could lead to broader economic development opportunities.

Residents will vote on the measures in local elections next week.
