Marseille are showing interest in Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

The Yorkshire club, whom Mail Sport exclusively revealed in May must raise up to £100million in player sales after their failure to win promotion back to the Premier League , were expecting Meslier to attract interest ahead of the summer window.

Leeds would want a fee in excess of £20m for the 24-year-old Frenchman, who has made 175 appearances for the club since his move to Elland Road from FC Lorient in 2020.

The shot-stopper played 49 matches across all competitions for Leeds last campaign, keeping 21 clean sheets.

Meslier played a key role for Leeds during their last stint in the Premier League, impressing as a young goalkeeper capable of making important saves and playing out from the back.

Sources close to top-flight clubs expect a fire sale at Elland Road this summer following the club's defeat by Southampton in the Championship play-off final last month, with Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville deemed most likely to leave as of last month.

Amid growing financial concerns at Leeds, promotion back to the Premier League would have eased — yet not entirely alleviated — the club's need to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Anticipating that Meslier would attract interest, Leeds have been evaluating potential replacements between the sticks.

Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak is one name on the list, although Leeds approaching the Slovakian is by no means a certainty at this stage.

The Championship outfit are also in talks to sell Diego Llorente to Real Betis following his season-long loan spell at Serie A club Roma.

The centre-half, who was initially lining up to stay at Roma, could join fellow Leeds team-mate Marc Roca at Betis, with the midfielder in advanced talks to stay at the LaLiga club on a permanent deal this summer after impressing on loan last term.
