ary L. (Meighan) Jackiewicz, 85, of Scott Street, Wilkes-Barre, died
Saturday at Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, Mercy Hospital,
Wilkes-Barre.

Born Dec. 16, 1914, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late James
and Mary (McGill) Meighan.

She was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Miners Mills,
Wilkes-Barre, and its Altar and Rosary Society, of which she was president for


She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lou Sorokas; and brothers,
Hugh and Frank Meighan.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Leo M.; daughters, Molly Phillips,
Jim Thorpe; and Joyce Hendricks, Selinsgrove; son, James L., Wilkes-Barre;
eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the E. Blake Collins
Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.
in St. John the Baptist Church.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
