MA's 9th Congressional District Elections 2024: Polls Closed The polls are closed across Massachusetts. Patch will have results from the MA-9th race here throughout the night.

MASSACHUSETTS — It's 8 p.m. on Election Day, meaning the polls are closed across Massachusetts. Now, it's up to town clerks to count up the ballots in races ranging from state representatives to senators and the president.

That includes the race in the Massachusetts 9th Congressional District between Democratic incumbent Bill Keating and Republican challenger Dan Sullivan.

Patch will have those results in this story as they come in throughout the night.

Gosnold was the first municipality to report vote totals in the race, according to the Associated Press. The town reported Keating up by 34 percent around 8:15 p.m.

Keating has represented the 9th since 2013.

The district encompasses a fairly sprawling region of the state. Keating's website describes the borders as "stretching north to Cohasset, south to Nantucket, east to Provincetown and west to Westport."

While voters have favored Keating for a decade, he hasn't made a fan of his challenger Dan Sullivan.

Sullivan, a registered nurse by trade, said he disagrees with Keating on issues of immigration, one of the two major pain points for him in the state's current political climate.

The other top issue, Sullivan said in a Patch Q&A, was housing.
