Police shutdown Beebe Road in Monson during investigation

According to the Great Barrington Fire Department, at around 8:10 a.m. crews were called to Route 7 South for a report of an excavator on fire. The road was shut down as firefighters worked to put out the fire on a MassDOT backhoe unit.

"We would like to take this opportunity to apologize to all that we made late for work and school yesterday while we were 'Takin care Bizness'," the Great Barrington Fire Department said on Facebook.

A backup of an additional 1,000 gallons of water was brought in if needed and the road was reopened shortly after. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
