Mayor of Lubbock announces special recognition for Flatland Cavalry

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Buddy Holly Hall is proud to announce that the Mayor of Lubbock presented a special recognition to the acclaimed band Flatland Cavalry during their concert on November 7, 2024. The recognition was a surprise for the band and was presented on stage by the Mayor, highlighting the pride and success of Lubbock's own musical talents.

"On behalf of Buddy Holly Hall, we couldn't be prouder of Flatland Cavalry and all they've achieved. Their music captures the spirit of Lubbock, and it's a privilege to celebrate their success here at Buddy Holly Hall, a place dedicated to honoring local and national talent. This recognition reflects not only their hard work but also Lubbock's commitment to supporting artists who represent our city so well," said Dan Pope, Board Chair of Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association.

Their heartfelt lyrics and captivating performances have garnered them a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim. The Mayor's recognition celebrates Flatland Cavalry's contributions to the music industry and their representation of Lubbock's rich cultural heritage. The Mayor and the Lubbock City Council signed a formal special recognition certificate, which was presented to the band on stage at The Buddy Holly Hall. This event was a moment of pride for the entire community, showcasing the support and admiration for local artists.

"Lubbock is the Music Crossroads of Texas, and while it is important to celebrate our rich musical history, it is maybe even more important to support and recognize Lubbock's talented individuals making music today," said Mayor Mark McBrayer. "Our community is extremely proud of Flatland Cavalry. It is important they know how much we support them and how grateful we are for the ways in which they represent Lubbock on the national stage."

Flatland Cavalry spent the week in Lubbock leading up to their event. There is another performance tonight, November 8, and before the performance, guests are invited to join us for a pre-show party on the Bird's Tail Patio from 6 PM to 7 PM. Doors open at 7 PM.

The concert, held at the iconic The Buddy Holly Hall, was attended by fans, media representatives, and city officials. The evening began with an opening act, followed by the Mayor's presentation at 9:00 PM. The recognition was a highlight of the night, with the Mayor and the band taking a photo. The concert continued with Flatland Cavalry's electrifying performance, leaving the audience awestruck.
