Mayor puts substation bidding process on hold to resolve council concerns about land

SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – The City of Shreveport has paused bidding for a new police substation in North Shreveport.

On Wednesday morning, the mayor's office announced that no more bids would be accepted for constructing the North Market Street SPD substation.

Police chief says 'fine details' of SPD relocation still being worked through

"I have asked our staff to pause the bidding process to give us time to work through and resolve some concerns expressed by the City Council about the terms of the donation of the land on which the substation would be located. Rather than potentially penalizing bidders by asking them to submit a bid before the issues were resolved, I think it is better to pause the process now."

Funding for the substation was approved through a bond passed by Shreveport voters in late 2021 and is intended to house officers assigned to N. Shreveport.
