MCP Rescue: Week 12’s Touchdown For Tails Chicagoland Rescue Of The Week

The 2023 Chicago Bears season continues to be full of surprises, and not many of them have been good. With just six games remaining in the regular season, the time to turn things around on the field is running low. The same cannot be said for the amazing work we’ve been able to do this year for local Chicago Land area animal rescues, though! Sure, the Bears’ season hasn’t been what most had hoped but the impact we here at Windy City Gridiron have been able to make with your help and support has made a tough season worth it. We’ll continue that work into Thanksgiving week with our 12th featured rescue of the season, MCP Rescue!

As always, here’s a breakdown of how Touchdown For Tails will work.

Each week, we will be featuring a new rescue. Within that week, you’ll have a few options to “bet” on. Now, when I say bet, what I really mean is, how much you’re willing to donate to the featured animal rescue organization of the week. Here’s how it’ll work.

A Chicago Bears win = $25 donation Three-to-five Prop Bets: Hitting on the prop = $10 donation. Missing on the prop= $5

Ultimately, what I would like to do is make the Bears winning on the field as rewarding to our featured rescues as possible! Those of you who donate nine (or more) times throughout the season will be entered into a drawing at the end of the season to win a Chicago Bears Nike “Game” Jersey. The player and sizing will be of your choice. For each Chicago Bears win, I will personally donate $25. I will also choose one prop bet (brought to you by Draft Kings) that I will also “bet” on.

The ultimate goal of this is to get Bears fans more involved with the community around them. Football season is already the best time of year, so why not make it a little better by helping become a solution to a growing problem around the country? Every single dollar donated on a weekly basis will go directly to that featured rescue.

“MCP Rescue is a Chicago based animal rescue that finds Forever Homes for the overlooked, abused, neglected, in need, at risk dogs (and cats). We believe every animal is an individual with their own idiosyncrasies, gifts, likes and dislikes, just like humans. MCP is the opposite of a revolving door type of Rescue model. We may not have the large numbers monthly but we have a return rate lower than 3% and we know where our dogs are and how they are. 85% of the dogs we bring into our Pack are considered true underdogs and harder to adopt, whether they be of Pitbull types dogs, XL breeds, bonded pairs, seniors, major medical, or hospice.

We look at this process as adopting new humans into our Pack vs adopting our dogs out. We are full disclosure. We know our dogs well. We stand behind our dogs 100%. We are selective on who we bring into our Pack. We are comfortable saying no at any time during the process. We look for organic connections and humans willing to put in the work it takes to create successful Forever relationships. We like to go slow to ensure proper communication so that everyone is on the same page and to secure a successful match. We are extremely hands on throughout from first meet and greet throughout decompression, onto Forever.

Out of state adoptions are rare but possible and depend of the strength of the application and match/needs of the dog/cat. Our process consists of at least three meet and greets, depending on the comfort levels of all involved and what is needed to ensure a successful transition for our animals.

We hold our animals and humans close. Hence, we are quality over quantity.”

“his sweetheart comes with a story from the south.Used for breeding most of her life, Willow’s heart prevails with purity of kindness and love. She just wants to enjoy life in retirement and make the world a better place, by simply being her magical self. She’s a heart whisperer. An oracle that heals all. Willow is great with every one she meets, dogs, cats and human children included. Also, her underbite is absolutely to die for.”

“We adore the underdogs. The dogs that aren’t cherry picked. The dogs that possess more magic than meet’s the average human’s eye. The dogs that you get to know and think the world would be less, without them in it. This is Otto. He’s obviously an elder wizard. He possesses all the charm and character. He came in to our Pack with two horribly bulging, extremely painful eyes, and skin infections that mimicked a bald rat. He’s since had both eyes removed and living pain free has unlocked a whole new being. Otto LOVES life. He loves playing with his foster dog siblings (who are particular with other dogs). However, in the words of his foster—“it’s super hard not to fall for the incredibly enchanting weirdo, known as Otto man. He is truly something to know and adore. He makes one better— in some way, everyday.” Otto is snuggly, independent, smart, witty, playful and casts his spells on those willing to see true beauty.”

PONZU SAUCE (1-Year-Old Male)

“Holy world of potato sweetness! Words cannot describe the absolute insanity of sweet this guy has to offer. He is super gentle and kind. He is extremely friendly and loving. He loves to play fetch, which is a hilarious quirk, because his energy doesn’t read, “I’m an athlete.” He does enjoy a good couch snuggle. He’s just a very good boy, through and through. He loves other dogs. Plus, he has an underbite, chiclets and a mouth from the heavens. Look into eyes— and it’s over.”

(4-Month-Old Male)

“Addams is a little guy (probably 30-ish lbs full grown) but a spry guy— a smart guy with a huge heart. He seems to really love a good snuggle session, and a couple times today to sit in his Foster’s lap, while she works and just watches the birds outside - from quite a distance. He is a calmly and quietly observant/interested/concerned little man judging by his time spent watching and observing things— and level of wrinkles his forehead has to offer. He is also a tiny little grade A fetcher. He loves to retrieve whatever toy is thrown, no matter the size, and bring it back for belly rubs on repeat. He came in as a stair master, too. Easily redirected on teething baby bites, good in his crate, two different ears mark him insanely cute. He is ready to make his forever family very happy, and rule the world with humans his speed— mentally, physically, and humor induced wise! “

As a country, we have a homeless animal crisis on our hands that only seems to be getting worse by the day. Stray animals are found every day. With the volatility of the job market, more families are losing their homes and can no longer care for their pets. The list of reasons contributing to this issue runs long.
