Measure PL To Rebuild Pasadena’s Central Library Passing Handily – Pasadena Now
Initial results have been released by the Los Angeles County registrar in voting for local measures. First results released show that the Pasadena Public Library seismic retrofitting measure is leading by a huge margin. Here are the outcome of other local issues:
Measure PA proposes amendments to Article IV of the Pasadena City Charter, mandating special elections to fill City Council vacancies under specific conditions and establishing a 30-day residency requirement for appointed officials. Early results indicate overwhelming approval, with 87.91% (24,602 votes) in favor and 12.09% (3,382 votes) opposed.
Measure PB seeks to amend Article IV to require the City Council's Organizational Meeting to occur annually in December, elect the Vice Mayor during this meeting for a one-year term, and create an Acting Mayor position in the event of a mayoral vacancy. Preliminary figures show 87.42% (24,083 votes) support and 12.58% (3,466 votes) opposition.
Measure PC aims to establish term limits for the offices of Mayor and Councilmember, capping service at three consecutive terms, with eligibility for two additional terms after a four-year hiatus, totaling a maximum of five terms. Initial counts reveal 83.47% (23,410 votes) in favor and 16.53% (4,636 votes) against.
Measure PF proposes an amendment to Section 1502 of the City Charter to ensure continued fire and police representation on the Pasadena Fire and Police Retirement System Board by allowing trustees to be selected according to a policy approved by the Retirement Board. Early results show 87.17% (23,801 votes) approval and 12.83% (3,502 votes) disapproval.
Measure PL seeks authorization for the city to issue $195 million in bonds to retrofit and upgrade the 97-year-old Pasadena Central Library, addressing earthquake safety, fire regulations, and other necessary repairs. The measure requires a two-thirds majority for passage. Preliminary results indicate 73.02% (21,680 votes) in favor and 26.98% (8,011 votes) against.
