Meet the youngest lawmaker ready to hit Kansas’ statehouse
MANHATTAN ( KSNT ) – 27 News sat down with the youngest lawmaker coming to Topeka.
Angel Roeser won her District 67 seat narrowly defeating democrat rival Kim Zito. Roeser will represent Manhattan on the House side of the legislature. She will be the youngest lawmaker at 23-years-old.
Roeser told us that doesn't intimidate her. She said she's more than ready to be a leader for the people of Manhattan. She said her priorities are lowering property taxes, fighting inflation and public school funding.
"Right now it's important that we see an accurate representation of the district in Topeka battling it out for us. I'm gonna earn us a seat at that table, we're gonna get there, and Manhattan is gonna have a strong voice at the Capitol."
What Kansas counties did Trump, Harris win in the General Election?
Roeser isn't the youngest lawmaker Kansas has had. Most recently in 2020, Aaron Coleman won a Wyandotte County seat at just 20-years-old.
