Metro police searching, padlocking South Nashville home
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities have declared a South Nashville house a "public nuisance," sparking a search and a lockdown at the address Thursday morning.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) posted on social media platform X shortly before 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 that officers were "taking the rare step of searching & padlocking" a home in the 4900 block of Shasta Drive as "a public nuisance."
"This is an extreme but necessary action for the wellbeing of families living in the Shasta Drive area," Metro Police Chief John Drake said.

This news comes more than 10 months after a man was injured in a shooting near the same address . While at the home, authorities found a 2002 blue Nissan Frontier in the upper portion of the driveway that was reported stolen in December 2023.
Back in February 2020, MNPD conducted a raid at a Hermitage house , declaring it a public nuisance "after dealing with a homicide and multiple drug issues" there. During that raid, officials said 26 people were found inside the home, including 11 with outstanding warrants, as well as an infant in "horrendous" conditions.
