Miami has extended a second offer along the defensive line in the transfer portal .

On Tuesday evening, Middle Tennessee State graduate Marley Cook reported a Hurricanes offer. At 6-foot-2, 298-pounds, Cook, originally a center recruit from Mississippi in the Class of 2019, was a team captain for the Blue Raiders this past fall.

He had his best year in 2022, collecting 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks from the interior defensive line, earning first-team All-Conference USA honors from Pro Football Focus. As a redshirt sophomore, Cook was credited with a ridiculous 49 pressures in 613 snaps.

In that upset win over Miami, Cook was credited with three quarterback pressures and a sack and finished the game with a 74.5 defensive grade.

This past fall, Cook was still productive with 6.5 tackles for loss and a sack to go along with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He put pressure on the quarterback 17 times. That would’ve been third-best for a Miami interior defensive lineman behind only Jared Harrison-Hunte and Leonard Taylor. His lone appearance against a Power 5 program came against Alabama in the MTSU season opener and Cook generated three pressures.

As a redshirt freshman in 2021, Cook totaled 21 pressures while adding five more during the COVID year, giving him a career total of 92. That’s a lot at defensive tackle.

TCU, Louisville, Boston College, Missouri, Liberty, Kansas, and Houston are amongst the programs who have already offered Cook.

Miami has also extended an offer out to UPenn defensive tackle Joey Slackman , who’s emerged as one of the most coveted defensive linemen in the transfer portal. The Hurricanes would like to add multiple players to Jason Taylor and Joe Salave’a’s room, especially along the interior defensive line.
