Miami's daily Hurricanes news of the day is right here
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
If you missed what coaches Mario Cristobal, Shannon Dawson and Lance Guidry were talking about off the tough loss to Louisville and with the regular season finale at Boston College coming up, be sure to check out their thoughts.
This morning we also have a closer look at the defensive roster and how it may need a bump up talent-wise, particularly in the secondary, with the portal opening Dec. 4. So don’t miss that. We also have your weekly Canes in the NFL feature with stats and highlights.
In recruiting?
There was no shortage of movement for Miami commits and top 2024 recruiting targets in the latest On300 rankings update for this year’s recruiting class. We break that down.
Miami also has slowly but surely increased its recruiting efforts and interest in Miami (Fla.) Columbus 2024 three-star tight end Benjamin Blackburn, a Stanford commit who flipped from Boston College earlier this year. Blackburn attended Miami’s Saturday home game against Louisville and shares where things stand now.
Plus Blountstown (Fla.) four-star Miami commit defensive tackle Artavius Jones returned to Miami this weekend for the Hurricanes’ final home game of the season for the first time since early fall, with early national signing day just around the corner. With FSU pushing, where does he stand?
And in basketball news Jim Larranaga’s squad is 5-0 and has now cracked the top 10 of the Associated Press Poll, moving up two spots to No. 10. The Canes remain at No. 11 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll. We have a closer look at that.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

Done criticizing Mario.
Tyler is still hurt but he obviously was MUCH better against Ville.
Let’s get a good week of practice and get a win and finish 7-5.
No it does not make the season a success but it will make Holiday weekend better and perhaps instill more confidence in TVD.
Let’s get it.
“You always want to be wanted, you know? Those places that are talking that, I have an agent, my agent hasn’t told me anything about that. So it’s just people chirping and talking. As the season finishes coach (Mario) Cristobal and I will sit down, we will talk about next year’s plan and what we will do here at Miami. This is the job I have, I love it here, think we’re building something special so I’m not looking to go anywhere. I said it when I came here, that this was a place I was always intrigued coming to, to get it back to what it was. To me it’s just talk, you know, until someone picks up the phone. I’ve got a job here at Miami, I love Miami, love our players and we’re recruiting some really good players and I want to be here at Miami because this is the job that I do have. There’s always going to be speculation. Anytime anyone does anything good there’s people that want them. That’s just a part of it. But the grass isn’t always greener somewhere else.”
