Michael Beasley Reveals Why He Adopted LeBron James’ Diet Over Dwight Howard’s Despite Benefits

Shaquille O'Neal's mid-career shift to a cleaner diet or Kobe Bryant 's discipline extended to a meticulously crafted nutrition plan, a diet plan has been crucial and unique to each. "What I've done really is just train really hard and watch my diet," was the latter's revelation. So, important it was for Michael Beasley too, but the Miami Heat star would choose to follow else's.

In the recent episode of the "Club 520 podcast," speaking about his time with the Miami Heat, Beasley admitted finding Karl Malone, and Carlos Boozer's muscular antics beyond his reach. "Like I can't be that big," he says after the team expected him to take Boozer's role. Co-host Bishop B Hen believes that would require a ' Dwight Howard ' diet, though the rest of the crew might not share the same opinion. Beasley instead reveals that it was LeBron James ' diet he followed when he joined the Heat for a second stint in 2013.

That would include a complete 3-time meal. The former power forward reveals he only consumes 2 or 1 meals a day, skipping breakfast. But when he joined the Heat with LeBron, it was his diet Beasley followed. "I was like 250 lbs. I am talking about body fat, 5%."

James still follows a very disciplined diet with the main aim of reducing processed foods, sugar, dairy, and foods high in carbohydrates. However, following something similar wouldn't all be perfect for Beasley. "I ain't feel as saucy. You know what I'm saying my jump shots ain't feel as fluent," said the 35-year-old who had averaged 38.9 3 P% that year. But there was one benefit to it and the most important of it all. "But I ain't never get hurt. Like that is all that matters," he adds on the podcast.

Dwight Howard , on the other hand, a 7-time All-Star and a 3-time DPOY by the time Beasley joined the Heat in 2013, was a big kid coming into the league. But he 'loves to eat', the Lakers legend reveals. So it took him some time to adjust, and when he did, the 'defending' and 'leading rebounder' titles weren't far.

He did have a hiccup in 2013, reportedly overeating candies that would rack up to thousands of calories, but he recovered to be better than ever. "I'm pretty much a health freak when it comes to doing what I have to do to stay on top of my game," he told GQ after the phase. Right food, including a big breakfast or about 3 small meals before a game to go with intense work out was the way for Howard.

That would probably have helped Beasley in meeting the team's expectations by physique, but he does believe LeBron to be the best in the game, that would have very likely influenced his choice.

LeBron James tops the table for Michael Beasley During an episode of "The OGs" podcast, when Mike Miller had asked Beasley whom he thought to be his GOAT, the latter spared no time in answering. "Who's my GOAT all-time? LeBron." He went on to make his case further.

"And I can give you a very compelling argument: if we had right here all the players from history stats, no names, right? And you know we stacked the best point guard, shooting guard, small forward, etc whatever even bench, even coach, yeah you can put that man's stats up and he can be the best one," said Beasley. He even added that people who hate on James just do it because of old feelings and that they never see his current stats.

Beasley would play alongside LeBron James for two seasons, once in Miami and then with the LA Lakers. In the first stint, he would make his first Finals appearance, but a championship has evaded him throughout. Facing defeat 14 times against him then in 18 of their encounters, Beasley is clear about his side in the debate.
