ichael Skamanich Sr., 83, of West Scranton, died Saturday at his home.
Born Sept. 5, 1916, in Scranton, he was a son of the late John and Mary
(Bilo) Skamanich.
He was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran of World War II, serving with the
the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and four Bronze Stars.
He was a forklift operator for Haddon Craftsman.
He was a member of the Independent Bible Church, Duryea.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and John; and sister,
Helen Flynn.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Florence Yanko; son, Michael
Jr., Old Forge; one granddaughter; sisters, Mary “Jessie” Mlaker, Scranton;
brother, George, Portland, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Independent Bible
Church, Duryea, with the Rev. Albert Cremard officiating.
Interment will be in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the Independent Bible Church Building
Fund, Main and Stephenson Streets, Duryea, Pa. 18642.
