Michigan and Ohio State ’s strong defenses were the story of the first half of the undefeated teams’ highly anticipated matchup Saturday, as the Wolverines led 14-10 after two quarters of action. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy went 8-of-11 passing for 85 yards and one touchdown. Michigan star running back Blake Corum opened the scoring with a 1-yard rushing TD.
  • Buckeyes QB Kyle McCord was 12-of-19 passing for 156 yards with one TD and one interception. Ohio State kicker Jayden Fielding missed a 52-yard field goal attempt to close the first half.
  • Michigan’s defense entered the game ranked No. 1 and Ohio State’s No. 2 nationally in points per game allowed — and they are No. 2 (Michigan) and No. 3 (Ohio State) nationally in total defense.
