Mike and Zara Tindall don their finery as they beam at a charity rugby dinner with Nick Knowles

Mike and Zara Tindall looked to be in good spirits as they attended an annual Remembrance Day Dinner on Thursday.

The couple huddled up to one another as they posed with presenter Nick Knowles at the event, hosted by Rugby for Heroes - of which Princess Anne 's son-in-law is Patron - in London .

The organisation works with the sports community to 'raise funds and awareness for military personnel who are making the transition to civilian life'.

The father-of-three, 46, looked dapper in a sleek tuxedo and bowtie as he shared photos from the event on Instagram .

Elsewhere, his wife, who is King Charles's niece, 43, was sophisticated as ever in an elegant black dress, accentuated with silver detailing along the bodice.

She wore her blonde tresses down in a chic bob and opted for a simple make-up look.

Mike and Zara smiled as they took photos with other attendees, both sporting red poppies in commemoration of the event.

'Vital funds were raised for our servicemen and women at our Annual Remembrance Day Dinner, with Patron joined by wife, Zara, standing side by side in a night dedicated to honouring the lives of our military community,' Rugby for Heroes wrote on their social media.

'The evening was a poignant reflection on the unbreakable bond between rugby and the armed forces, made even more meaningful by the presence of our devoted ambassador , former England rugby player and Yeoman Warder Scott Kelly.

'Their attendance, along with supporters of our charity, highlighted the shared respect and camaraderie between sports and service.

'A particularly special moment came as we recognised our latest course attendees, who wore their medals as a proud symbol of their unwavering support and resilience.

'They shared the profound impact of our #transitionthroughrugby course and their experiences of resettling after service.

'This dinner not only commemorated the sacrifices of our military heroes but also raised crucial funds to support our wider military family.

'We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported us. A special thank you to for their generous sponsorship, which made the event at Vinters Hall, a resounding success.'

Last month, Mike revealed what the Royal Family are like in private - and why it's 'nothing like Downton Abbey '.

The former England rugby star, who is married to King Charles 's niece Zara, is known for his close relationships with several of his wife's relatives and explained how the royals 'are a very close family who loved each other dearly'.

In his book, The Good, the Bad & the Rugby - Unleashed, written with co-hosts James Haskell and Alex Payne, out today, the father-of-three, 46, described watching TV with the late Queen and relaxed picnic lunches with the family.

He added that despite most people's idea of Queen Elizabeth II's life, it wasn't like an episode of Julian Fellowes' much-loved period drama Downton Abbey, 'with meals on long tables and everyone dressed in their finery every night'.

Instead, Mike recalled: 'Zara and I would often watch the racing with her on TV, as I'm sure lots of people reading this have done with their gran.'

He continued: 'Lunches were also relaxed, especially up in Scotland, where lunch would often be heading out into the open space of the Scottish Highlands for a picnic.

'There's a great picture of my daughter Mia sitting with the Duke of Edinburgh that captures exactly what those afternoons were like: members of a very close family who loved each other dearly spending precious time together.'

It's thought the image Mike referred to is the same photograph shared by the former rugby player to Instagram on the eve of Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021.

He shared the picture, which he credited as being taken by the Princess of Wales, alongside a caption that read: 'It's been a very sad week but it has given us time to reflect on great memories and stories both personal and shared.

'A devoted family man who we will forever miss but always love,' Mike concluded in his tribute to Queen Elizabeth's late husband.

The snapshot of Prince Philip, who passed away aged 99 at Windsor Castle on 9 April 2021, showed the Duke sitting outside a log cabin.

He was leaned over a wooden table to enjoy a meal in the countryside setting alongside Mike and Zara's eldest daughter Mia, now 10.

Mike explained: 'I'm sometimes asked if the Queen did informality like "normal" people, and the answer to that is yes.

'Her life wasn't like an episode of Downton Abbey, with meals on long tables and everyone dressed in their finery every night.'
