Today marked the 14th annual Chris Shultz Memorial Run/Walk in Millville. The walk honors the memory of beloved community member who lost her battle with Leukemia in 2010.

For 14 years, the community of Millville gathers on the Sunday of the fireman's carnival to honor her memory.

"Chris was a very influential person in our community, she was a teacher and we just wanted to do something that was really special that we could remember her by," said Michelle Reichner, Chris' friend and one of the event organizers.

"I had Mrs. Shultz as a teacher, she was my favorite teacher in school, she was a tremendous human being and this is just a great way to remember her," said Katie Sick, a runner and friend of Chris'.

The run/walk raises funds for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Camp Courage, and it's a great way to get the community up and moving.

Racer Katie Sick, who finished second, says that it is a surprisingly challenging course.

"The race is kinda hardit's surprisingly deceiving," she said.

Sick, along with many others return to the race yearly to honor Shultz.

"She comes from a large family, it's a very close-knit family and we all just rally around her and come back here year after year and we're always happy to see the turnout, it's just for a wonderful cause," said Jennifer Bodnar, Chris' friend and one of the event organizers.

"As long as people wanna come out and do this, we're happy to do this for Chris and her family," she continued.
