The Green Party TD was keen to learn about the work being carried out by the team at the Wexford baby formula plant, which was officially certified carbon neutral back in 2020, scooping a major national award in the process.

Minister Smyth was given a guided tour by Plant Manager Deirdre Hannon and it was pointed out to him that Danone Nutricia's site sends zero waste to landfill, sources 100% renewable electricity and utilises a biomass boiler, fuelled by locally sourced sustainable wood from responsibly managed forests in the south east region.

Minister Smyth took notes and was impressed with the setup and congratulated the team at Danone on their ongoing sustainability efforts.
