Nov. 1, 2001 okiss Miriam A. Hartzell, age 73, a resident of Dorrance
Township, died Thursday at Davis Manor, Wright Township. She was born in
Wilkes-Barre, Sept. 22, 1928, and was a daughter of the late Edwin J. and
Agnes (Mooney) Hartzell. She was a graduate of Meyers High School. She was a
former resident of Fairview Township, and had resided in Dorrance Township
since 1972. Miss Hartzell was a member of the ILGWU and had been employed at
s~everal sewing factories in Wyoming Valley. She was last employed as a
nurse’s aide at Valley Crest, Plains Township, from 1979 to her retirement in

Dorrance Township Volunteer Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in
death by her lifelong companion, Joseph Wright, in 1996. She is survived by
several cousins, and her friends, Ray and Doris Stec, Dorrance Township; Mike
and Debbie Moir and family, Wright Township. Funeral services will be Monday
at 10 a.m. from the McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountaintop.
Rev. James H. Shanley, pastor of the Mountaintop Presbyterian Church, will
officiate. Interment will be in the Albert Cemetery, Wright Township. Friends
may call on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. FRPd.
