Missed election results for southwest Illinois races? Here are final unofficial numbers
Another campaign season reached its finale Tuesday.
There are few surprises in southwestern Illinois. Races included positions in Madison, Randolph and St. Clair County , where Democrat Mark Kern held onto his seat as board chairman but saw other county-wide seats taken by Republicans.
Mike Bost (R) and Nikki Budzinski (D) ran away with the vote to maintain their seats in the Illinois' 12th and 13th congressional districts, respectively, as the count continues in other races nationally to determine the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In the state general assembly, incumbents Katie Stuart (D) staid off challenger Jay Keeven in the 112th State House District and Amy Elik (R) held off Nick Raftopoulos (D) in the 111th.
That leaves a hotly contested race for the 114th district , where it appears Republican Kevin Schmidt held off a late charge from his predecessor, Democrat LaToya Greenwood.
Though all precincts are accounted for, some mail-in or provisional ballots may not be included in these results. Here are the final unofficial results for contested races in southwestern Illinois:
