Missoula Crime Report: Crimes Against Persons are Still a Problem

T.Williams23 min ago

Missoula, MT ( KGVO-AM News ) - The Missoula County Attorney's Office filed 15 new felony complaints this week, which is four less than last week and slightly lower than the weekly average. Deputy County Attorney Brittany Williams provided this week's report.

"There were seven violent crimes against persons," Williams said. "Two endangerment crimes, three property crimes, two drug crimes, and one administrative crime. We charged three family violence or strangulation crimes, two non-family violence or robbery crimes, and two sexual assault or incest crimes."

Williams was recently named the lead attorney for their major crimes unit and she said that is a unit she has worked with for years.

"I also in the last two years have done the majority of our drug distribution and possession with intent cases, which also led me to a position being a SAUSA, which is a special assistant United States Attorney," Williams said. "I can also prosecute certain cases over in federal court. I got an opportunity to do a federal trial this year, and that was a really great opportunity. I got to work with Jen Clark, who used to work here in our office. I have my hand in a lot of different hats, but I'm really excited about all of the opportunities."

Williams also mentioned that she has a pretty full trial calendar coming up.

"I have three upcoming trials in the next five weeks," Williams said. "I think we're as busy as ever, but we're excited and ready to take on all of these tasks. As history has proved itself, we have outstanding teamwork in this office. I'm looking forward to trying some of these cases with some folks I haven't tried cases with and bringing some good closure to the victims of Missoula County."

The Missoula County Attorney's Office provides a weekly crime report every Friday morning at 9:00 on Talk Back. You can listen to Williams's full report below:
