NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man described by Nashville authorities as an "alleged serial burglar" was taken into custody in connection with an attempted burglary along Gallatin Pike North Wednesday morning.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said officers from the Madison Precinct responded to a commercial burglary alarm around 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 and discovered the glass door was damaged. The suspect fled the scene in a gray Toyota Tundra after reportedly setting off the business' alarm.

By reviewing surveillance video, authorities said they quickly identified a possible match of the Tundra that was registered to a nearby home on Wiley Street.

When officers knocked on the door, they discovered 36-year-old Edgar Easu — who had been out on bond since July, police said — wearing the same clothes from the footage. In addition, the Tundra was parked in the driveway, still warm.

According to officials, Easu was arrested in February 2023 for 37 burglary-related charges and indictments, all of which are still pending.

Then, in September 2023, Easu was arrested again and convicted of assault after he reportedly fired a BB gun at another man, hitting him in the neck. MNPD said Easu was sentenced to supervised probation for that incident.

During a search of his home on Wednesday, authorities said they recovered 13 liquor bottles believed to have been stolen from local businesses.

According to law enforcement, Easu is being held in the Downtown Detention Center on a $75,000 bond for attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. However, additional charges are expected.
