The sheriff's office identified the man as 37-year-old Roy Lee Clowder of Coden, Alabama.

Clowder was arrested following an incident that reportedly happened around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 at a convenience store on Dauphin Island Parkway.

According to officials, Clowder pulled a gun on a female victim who agreed to give him a ride home, forcing her into the passenger side of the vehicle.

From there, officials said Clowder drove the woman's car with her inside to several locations, including a church, to participate in a "mock" wedding on the steps.

The woman reportedly notified a friend, who called 911, of the incident. Deputies then searched where the woman was last seen and repeatedly called her phone, the release said.

"The victim, in this case, remained calm and was able to communicate her whereabouts to a friend," said Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch. "Because of this, we were able to assist in locating her and getting her out of a very dangerous situation."

Clowder eventually released the victim before he was arrested at his home on Texas Street.

He was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree sexual abuse, resisting arrest, and first-degree kidnapping, according to the release.
