Mom of 3 Found Dead With Cuts to Her Neck Next to Uninjured Child in Car

Authorities in Washington State are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found next to her uninjured child in a car this week.
Courtney Clinton, 31, was found by police responding to a report of a deceased woman in a Vancouver, Wash., location early in the morning on Thursday, Nov. 7, the local police department said in a statement .
While the statement did not name the victim, she was identified by her family in a GoFundMe as well as by the Clark County Medical Examiner's office, per KOIN and The Oregonian .
Vancouver police also found a small child, seemingly uninjured, inside the car with her, per the statement.
Family members identified the child as her 1-year-old son, The Oregonian reported.
The medical examiner says Clinton was found with "incised wounds of the neck," according to KOIN.
She died from those cut wounds to her neck, the medical examiner determined, according to KPTV , KATU and The Oregonian.
Clinton was killed just months after the fatal shooting of her brother.
Donte Eugene Mathis , 25, was found dead in a motel parking lot in Portland, Ore., on July 6, the Portland Police Bureau said at the time. KATU and The Oregonian identified him as Clinton's brother.
On her Facebook page, Clinton appeared to commemorate him through pictures and a note reading, "Rest in peace baby boy," alongside the date of Mathis' death that's consistent with police accounts.

Clinton lived in Portland, less than 10 miles from Vancouver. "Courtney was known for her immense love and generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear to those around her," her sister wrote in the GoFundMe set up for her three children.
"Her spirit touched many lives, and it is important for us to ensure that she receives the farewell that reflects the beautiful person she was," her sister wrote.
