Monday Morning Northland Forecast: 10/7/2024 Another Sunny & Dry Week

If you like the weather today, you will be thrilled with the entire week that's on the way! While folks in Florida prepare for the onslaught of Hurricane Milton, here in the Northland, we can get ready for 7 days in a row of sunshine, mild temps and reasonable winds. And, that is just one of many reasons I'd rather live in northern Minnesota than Florida.

Milton has strengthened into a category 3 hurricane, with top sustained winds of 120 mph. It is moving northeast at about 8 mph, and is expected to hit the west coast of Florida, near Tampa or Orlando, sometime Wednesday afternoon or evening. Milton is going to be smaller than Helene was, but may do more damage, as it will hit an area that is much more densely populated than western North Carolina, where Helene caused so much flooding and massive damage.

But, here in the Northland, our weather is absolutely sublime by comparison. The next 6-7 days will be mainly sunny and mild. And, while I would love to see an inch of rain at some point, I know people will really enjoy the chance to be outside before the temps start to fall, a month from now. The golf courses are thrilled to be able to stay open later into the fall, and the golfers are pretty happy about that, too. It just doesn't do much for skiers at Spirit Mountain, or people who sell snowmobiles for a living.

So, in spite of our lack of moisture, this will be an easy and calm week in the region, so do your best to get outside and enjoy it!
