MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Roy Neal Shelling Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown Friday morning, according to Monroe City Schools Superintendent Sam Moore III. Moore tells KNOE it happened around 8 a.m. on the campus, located at 4200 Elm Street in Monroe. The superintendent said Monroe Police responded to reports of an adult inside the building experiencing a health issue. Moore said police took the individual to be psychologically evaluated. Concerned parents were allowed to check their students out early after the situation got under control. Moore urged that no children were in danger, no weapons were involved, no one was held hostage - and that the temporary closure was part of the standard safety procedure. At this time, Moore said the lockdown has ended and the school has resumed normal activity.
