NORRISTOWN — The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced the success of the 7th Annual Sheriff's Scholarship Golf Outing, held on September 23, at Blue Bell Country Club. The event raised a record $65,000 and for the first time in its history, three scholarships were awarded, totaling more than $6,000.

This year's recipients include Penn State Abington criminal justice majors Luka Gogoladze and Luis Morales, as well as Montgomery County 911 Telecommunicator Richard Blowes, who attends Montgomery County Community College. These scholarships mark a significant milestone in the sheriff's office commitment to educational and professional development for MCSO staff, county employees, and students eyeing careers in public service at these institutions, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

Keynote speakers were Montgomery County Commissioners Niel Makhija and Tom DiBello who delivered inspiring remarks highlighting the importance of educational pursuits and active community involvement.

"This year's outing was an incredible success, and we couldn't have done it without our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and the exceptional staff at Blue Bell Country Club," said Montgomery County Sheriff Sean Kilkenny. "Their dedication ensures we can continue to invest in the futures of our county employees and residents."

The Sheriff's Scholarship Fund was established by Montgomery County Sheriff Sean Kilkenny to help employees of the MCSO and their families achieve their educational goals. Initially focused on 2-year programs at Montgomery County Community College, where the sheriff serves as a trustee, the scholarships now apply to 4-year degree programs at Penn State Abington and offer a wider scope of eligibility. Over the past seven years, the endowments have raised nearly $200,000 for education and professional development in Montgomery County.
