BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A mother was charged with second-degree murder on Thursday after the death of her son in Burlington earlier this year, according to a Burlington Police Department news release.

On May 28 at 7:45 p.m., Burlington officers, Burlington firefighters and Alamance County Emergency Medical Services workers responded to the 600 block of Kivett Street when they were told about an unresponsive and malnourished man.

Max Lyar Oilouch, 21, was found and pronounced dead.

The BPD's Criminal Investigations Division began investigating his death.

Based on the investigation, detectives determined he suffered neglect from his primary caretaker, ultimately leading to his death.

On Thursday, his mother, Khlimolene "Kymo" Star Oilouch, 44, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
