Motorcyclist dies in Chula Vista crash

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A Chula Vista resident died in a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to Chula Vista Police, the collision happened in the area of Olympic and Hunte parkways around 2:42 a.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a person riding a motorcycle had broadsided a vehicle in the intersection, according to authorities.

Despite first aid having been rendered, the motorcyclist, a 45-year-old Chula Vista resident, was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a 27-year-old San Diego resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

The names of both people involved in the crash are not being released. The cause of the collision has yet to be determined by authorities.

The Chula Vista Police Traffic Bureau is currently investigating the incident. Anyone with more information is asked to call the department at 619-840-2796.
