Motorcyclist killed in eastern Berks crash

A motorcycle rider was killed in a one-vehicle crash Friday night in eastern Berks County, state police said.
The motorcycle was traveling south on Old Route 100 near Oberholtzer Road in Washington Township about 8:41 p.m. when the operator lost control on a curve, troopers from the Reading station said. The bike struck a ditch and the rider was thrown.
Eastern Berks Fire Department and Bally Ambulance crews responded and found the rider unresponsive. They paged the Berks County coroner's office.
Fire police from Eastern Berks, Boyertown and Gilbertsville fire companies diverted traffic while police investigated.
The motorcycle rider's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
