Motorcyclist killed in San Jose’s 36th fatal crash of 2024

( KRON ) — A motorcyclist died on Thursday after they were hit by a car on Tuesday, the San Jose Police Department said. The cyclist was the 36th person to be killed on the roads in San Jose this year.

Police responded to Lucretia Avenue and Granada Way at about 6:24 a.m. on Tuesday for a motorcycle crash. A car was turning left onto southbound Lucretia Avenue when it hit the motorcycle going northbound.

The driver of the motorcycle, an adult male, was hospitalized and stabilized, but he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, police said.

The driver of the involved car stayed at the scene and cooperated with SJPD's investigation.

San Jose has had more traffic deaths in 2024 than this time last year when there were 34 fatal collisions and 35 deaths.
