According to locals, the area at Edermine bridge has a habit of flooding, and one unfortunate driver ended up getting stuck in the rising water.

Darren Buchanan, Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer with the fire brigade said: "There is a dip in the road at Edermine and the driver happened to drive forward and his vehicle became stranded. It appears that area floods often. Luckily, it was not a big situation and the fire brigade was there and joined by a tow truck that managed to get the car free."

Mr Buchanan also emphasised the importance of safety and of avoiding these areas during bad and dangerous weather.

"People should not drive their cars through flood water – you don't know what could be in it. If you see flooding, turn around and drive back," he advised.
