Mountain Pointe student and football player stabbed to death during confrontation

- The Ahwatukee community is in mourning tonight after a local high school student and football player was stabbed in a neighborhood early Saturday morning.

He later died from his injuries.

As several young people gathered for a vigil for 15-year-old Jaylen Reeves, Phoenix Police are investigating the stabbing.

Reeves was a sophomore at Mountain Pointe High School and was also on the football team. People we spoke with off camera say he was a sweet kid, made friends with new students at school and was a promising athlete.

Phoenix Police say he was stabbed in a confrontation between two groups of kids. They do not have anyone in custody.

Phoenix police say they were called out just after 3:00 a.m. on Saturday to the area of East Lakewood Parkway in Ahwatukee for a report of a fight between two groups of kids.
