LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Friday morning, Deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a domestic dispute with an assault and a vehicle accident on Davis Hardy Road in La Grange.

After contacting the victim and the victim's mother, the victim told deputies that her children's father, Charles Ellsworth Powell Jr., had attempted to hit her with his vehicle, spun out and rammed the rear of her vehicle before stopping due to significant damage to the vehicle. The victim then continued to her children's school where she then called authorities and waited for them to arrive.

Witnesses stated that Powell, along with a woman named Candy Marie Pero, 21, had gotten into separate vehicle and traveled back to La Grange. Deputies went to a residence in the 2500 block of W.C. Gray Drive where a man, Dashawn Marquise Dail ran from the back of the residence but was later caught in a wooded area.

Pero was inside the residence and arrested by deputies for her involvement in the hit-and-run. Pero and Dail were taken to the W.E. Billy Smith Detention Center where they were taken before the magistrate, charged and placed in jail.

Deputies later returned to the residence and found Tyrionta Tyquan Dail who was living there. It was discovered that he was on probation. Powell was found hiding after searching the residence and was taken into custody without further incident, taken before the magistrate and placed into jail.
