Mundell, Tabares Sworn In As Bloomfield Mayor, Councilwoman Jenny Mundell and Monica Charris Tabares emerged victorious in the 2024 election. They were both sworn in this week.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Jenny Mundell and Monica Charris Tabares were officially sworn as mayor and at-large councilwoman on Monday evening in Bloomfield.

Bloomfield residents went to the polls earlier this month to decide who takes over an unexpired term for mayor, which was left vacant when Michael Venezia took a new post in the New Jersey Assembly .

Mundell, a Democrat, saw a solid win over Republican challenger David Tucker, election results from the Essex County Clerk's Office show. See Related: Mundell Ready To Blaze Trail As First Female Mayor Of Bloomfield

"I am deeply honored to take on the role of mayor of Bloomfield Township," Mundell said. "This community is my home, and I am filled with pride and determination as I begin this journey."

"Together, we will continue to make Bloomfield a place where families thrive, businesses succeed, and diversity is celebrated," she added.

Monica Charris Tabares was also sworn in on Monday as an at-large council member after her own election win. See Related: Bloomfield Town Council Chooses Tabares To Replace Gamble

"As I step into this role, I promise to listen, advocate, and uphold the interests of all members of our community," Tabares wrote in the wake of Election Night. "I am ready to get to work to continue to move Bloomfield Township forward."

A ceremonial swearing-in that is open to the public will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 26 at the council chambers on the second floor of the Municipal Building, 1 Municipal Plaza.
