Murder investigation underway in Jackson Co.; person of interest in custody

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. ( WDHN ) — A murder investigation is underway in Jackson County, Florida after a dead body was found inside a home.

Officers say they responded to the home on Sunday afternoon to a report of a dead person inside a house. When deputies and EMS arrived on the scene, they found the body and said they saw signs of foul play.

A person of interest is in custody and being questioned by Jackson County investigators. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the State Attorney's Office of the 14th Judicial Circuit are assisting with the investigation.
