Museum branded 'woke' after slapping trigger warning on 'distressing' wildlife photography... of animals attacking their prey

A museum has been accused of becoming ' woke ' after reportedly adding trigger warnings to a photography exhibition which shows animals attacking their prey. Bristol Museum and Art Gallery has been showcasing snaps from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, which has been running for some 60 years. But bosses were criticised for this year adding a warning to visitors on their site, stating they should expect 'distressing' images of 'animal cruelty and death', the Sun reports. The photographs, captured from across the globe, include images of lions delivering killer blows to their prey and a tiger carrying a dead monkey in its mouth by its head. The museum warned: 'Visitors may find some images distressing due to animal cruelty and animal death.' Those attending the exhibition can see the top photos from the prestigious wildlife competition, which runs every year and is open to all. The museum in Bristol said visitors would see 'exceptional images that capture fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world'. The exhibit is currently on loan from the National History Museum. Conservative MP SIr Alec Shelbrooke told the Sun : 'This is an example of lowering the education levels of society based on a decision made by a few woke people on inflated salaries deciding how everyone else should live their lives. 'I don't understand why people going into an exhibition about the natural world need to be warned about the natural world. 'They are being wrapped up in cotton wool and it's not preparing anyone for how the real world works.' But a spokesperson for the competition said the photographs could be 'confronting' to viewers, and they understood why some venues might like to 'communicate' this to visitors. Bristol Museum and Art Gallery has been contacted for comment.
