Nadine D. Swanson, 99, of Geneseo, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Hammond Henry Hospital – Long Term Care, Geneseo, IL. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Pastor Linda Hunsaker will officiate. The funeral will be livestreamed at www.vandemorefuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Edford Township Cemetery, rural Geneseo. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church.
Nadine was born on August 31, 1925, the daughter of Earl and Mildred (Pfaff) Kirchner, in Edford Township, IL. She graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1943. On August 21, 1943, Nadine married Dwight Swanson in Oklahoma City, OK. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2006. She enjoyed her time as a homemaker and farmwife. Nadine's hobbies included playing bridge, gardening, traveling, and watching college, NFL, and Geneseo football. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Executive Community First vice-president of the Illinois Federation of Republican Women, and the Henry County Republican Women from 1987 – 1992, where she served as president.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Candace (Scott) Millington Schaupp of Nokomis, FL, Melody (Bruce) Pinks of Champaign, IL, and Tamra (Gary) Dynes of Kewanee, IL; grandchildren, Heather (Brett) Wasserman, Lisette (Vito) Valenzano, Jerica (Scott) O'Connor, Erica (Derek) Jackson, Eva (Steven) Larson, and Elissa Dynes; great-grandchildren, Hunter Wasserman, Ethan Wasserman, Ryan Pinks, Gabriel Valenzano, Paige O'Connor, Regan O'Connor, Ian O'Connor, and Julia Jackson
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mildred Kirchner; her loving husband, Dwight Swanson; grandson, Jakob Pinks; cousin, Kermith Pfaff; and brother-in-law, Eugene Swanson.
