Individuals may be nominated in one of three categories: athlete, coach and special.

Isner to play tennis exhibition in St. Helena Sept. 14

Two retired world-ranked players, a legendary coach, and doubles team coming off its U.S. Open debut highlight the second annual Napa Valley Lawn Club Tennis Classic in St. Helena on Sept. 14.

The Saturday exhibition event is from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Lawn Club, 1103 Vintage Ave.

Featured will be a match between friends — 6-foot-10 retired star John Isner, once ranked No. 8 in the world, and former world-ranked No. 21 player Steve Johnson.

Isner, who hit the fastest official serve in APT Tour history at 157.2 mph at the 2016 Davis Cup, achieved his highest singles ranking after reaching the semifinals of the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. At Wimbledon in 2010, he played the longest professional tennis match in history, requiring five sets and 183 games to defeat Nicolas Mahut in an 11-hour, five-minute marathon that stretched across three days.

A WTA exhibition match will feature the return of sisters Carmen and Ivana Corley, former University of Oklahoma standouts who are currently ranked No. 188 in the world in doubles, against the Campana sisters, Anna and Carolyn, former Pepperdine players currently ranked 568th in the world in doubles.

The Corleys received a wildcard into the doubles of the U.S. Open and opened with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ekaterina Alexandrova and Anna Blinkova on Aug. 29 before falling 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (4-7), 6-4 to Veronika Kudermetova and Chan Hao-Ching.

The weekend will also include a clinic and dinner for VIP guests with Brad Gilbert, a former world-ranked No. 4 player and current coach to the second-ranked woman in the world, Coco Gauff.

There will be food, wine and music surrounding the event.
