NASCAR penalty report released after Homestead-Miami Speedway

L.Thompson32 min ago

The penalty report has been released from NASCAR's trip to Homestead-Miami Speedway this past weekend.

Throughout the weekend that was in Florida, the racing was nothing short of incredible. Tyler Reddick put the capper on an all-time race with a last-lap, career-defining move to clinch his spot in the Championship 4, sending his 23XI Racing team into a frenzy.

Elsewhere, Grant Enfinger was victorious during the Truck Series race, while Austin Hill got to Victory Lane during the Xfinity Series trip to Homestead-Miami.

With all that in mind, there were some penalties NASCAR had to dole out amid the elation. They had to do with the Truck Series, as Conner Jones was suspended for his role in wrecking of Matt Mills, while Layne Riggs' team is also dealing with some unfortunate fallout.

"NASCAR suspends Conner Jones for Martinsville for his wrecking of Matt Mills," FOX's Bob Pockrass posted on X . "In addition to one-race suspension to Conner Jones, NASCAR has also issued a one-race suspension to Layne Riggs crew chief Dylan Cappello and docked Riggs and team 10 points for not having all ballast secured inside a ballast container (NASCAR took steering wheel over wknd)."

With Homestead-Miami in the rearview, there's only two races remaining in the NASCAR season. A trip to Martinsville is on the docket for this coming weekend, and time will tell who's feeling themselves after Saturday and Sunday in Virginia, and which teams will be wondering what could've been when the dust settles.

More on NASCAR's trip to Homestead-Miami Speedway

Words simply don't do Tyler Reddick's race-winning move at Homestead-Miami justice, as it's a moment that'll live on for quite some time.

insiders Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi reveled in the gravity of the move on this week's episode of The Teardown , the latter claiming Reddick's move will be what defines him as a racer when he decides to hang up his steering wheel, which hopefully won't be for quite some time.

"To have a finish like this, where a driver on older tires and somehow makes the move into turn three in a move that, you know, Ryan Blaney afterwards was like, 'I don't know how he did it.' Tyler Reddick doesn't know how he did it," Bianchi stated . "To pull that off is remarkable, and it's going to be the signature moment, likely going to be the signature moment in Tyler Reddick's career when you look back and say, 'What defied Tyler Reddick as a driver?' You're going to look back at this last lap today and say, 'That is Tyler Reddick as a driver in a nutshell.'

"He drove it in there, despite the circumstances on older tires, threw down this huge Herculean lap and passed not one, but two drivers on the last lap, and stuck his car into turn three on older tires at Homestead, and pulled it off. Like, that's incredible. That's something you play in a highlight reel. That is the signature moment on a highlight reel when your career is over."

Alas, Reddick needed a miracle to get into the Championship 4, and he made one happen in Florida over the weekend. Now, if he's able to cap off his season with a victory at Phoenix and lock up his first NASCAR Cup Series title, the move he made on Sunday will take on a new life.
